About
Nancé Hicks, D.O., used to consider home wherever she was with her son and husband. Since moving back to Texas, to be near family, she has put down roots in Granbury. She is thrilled to finally have a place to call their forever home. With her father's military commitment, she can count more than a dozen moves throughout her childhood. She continued this trend during her own military service; which she contributes to her ability to connect with people from a vast range of backgrounds and experiences. During her time in the United States Air Force, she was stationed in Germany, deployed to Saudi Arabia, and worked with US Customs and Drug Enforcement Administration.
Dr. Hicks finished her undergraduate requirements at the University of North Texas in Denton followed by medical school at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency through the Rural Family Medicine Program with the University of Oklahoma in Ramona, Oklahoma.
Dr. Hicks' philosophy of patient care is that of shared decision making. She often tells patients and staff alike, "Don't ever be afraid to ask me a question. If I can't explain what I'm doing I have no business doing it." She believes education and explanation are paramount to superior patient care.
Acceptance and open-mindedness are other concepts Dr. Hicks values in doctor to patient communication. In order to understand a patient’s healthcare values, she asks many questions. She believes the patient should always be the ultimate decision maker when it comes to his or her own body and health, and she strives to ensure her patients have the vital information they need to make a truly informed decision.
Dr. Hicks is a voracious reader of mysteries and westerns when time allows. She spends her free time with her husband and son taking care of their menagerie of horses, a pony, a donkey, dogs, cats and reptiles. They are avid horseback riders who also enjoy target shooting and camping. The family relishes any opportunity to travel and seek out new adventures.
Dr.Hicks's clinic is located inside the Lake Granbury Imaging Center.
